Also be sure to join the Upsewing Taranaki FB Group!
Upsewing Taranaki is a space for stitching not ditching cloth and clothes.
We meet on the 2nd Tuesday and 3rd Wednesday of each month at Creative Space on Princes Street, Hāwera.
Tuesday 9:30am - 11:30am
Wednesday 6:30pm - 8:30pm
Whether it's getting creative with needle and thread or sewing machines, we are all about repurposing and upcycling to reduce waste and revive some 'darn well' practical skills.
All skills levels welcome. Work on your own projects or upsew for one of our community projects.
Run by local Taranaki Timebankers for all the community, you can learn all about Timebank at one of these sessions.
Upsewing Extravaganza 2023
We had such a ball at our Upsewing Extravaganza on 29th July in Hāwera and were stunned by the amazing garments created.
Congratulations to all the winners and to every Extravaganza entrant for their outstanding creativity and passionate adherence to 'Upsewing' their garments. You will be amazed at what people created from cloth scraps, door handle parts, harakeke, and old sheets!
Thank you to Jimmy Vaid of Vaid's Pro Photography for these images.
